People

Most of Ria's paintings are of beings and creatures when she lived in a sleepy town in Portugal. This small but amazing little town was were Ria discovered she had more friends in the world than" I had ever dreamt of". Ria did not speak any Portuguese and bit by bit by humble communication she was approached to give portraits of people. Ria was able to  have  a share something about there lives. In exchange for a painting Ria would spend time with them or find out something about there lives. Its often loneliness in the small towns as people appear to keep up appearances  This was more often then not (in their quaint little town)  a tough life for most. Ria saw them open up when asked them about their lives. These paintings are a process of  excersing  ideas or thoughts that they have while being painted. " Its the look of future or change and you can sense it about them and if you watch them closely they will let you see."
